Steve Davis
He turned professional in 1978 and has become a hugely popular performer winning the Snooker World Championship six times. In December 2006, he turned back the clock with a fantastic display of snooker as he reached his 100th major tournament final. Father of two, Steve is a keen golfer and poker player, he was made an MBE in 1988 and an OBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours in 2001. Everyone at BCE looks forward to seeing this sporting legend lift more trophies in the near future!
Johns Higgins
Considered one of snooker’s greatest ever match-players, John’s outstanding break-building and tactical skills have helped him to 17 ranking titles. His career highlight was in 1998 when, aged just 22, he won the world title with an 18-12 victory over Ken Doherty at the Crucible. John has made five competitive 147 breaks, including two in consecutive matches – one in the 2003 LG Cup final and the next in the first round of the subsequent British Open. A devoted fan of Celtic, John’s other hobbies include playing golf and poker. He enjoys gourmet food and cooking and appeared alongside Shaun Murphy on BBC show Ready Steady Cook. He and wife Denise have two sons – Pierce and Oliver.
Ken Doherty
He has been one of the world’s top players for more than a decade now. It is a mark of the Irishman’s consistency that for the 2005/06 season he reached his highest ever world ranking, No. 2. In 2003 Ken played an amazing 132 frames at the Crucible and finished runner-up in the World Championship. Ken has enjoyed major success in Scotland, Wales and Thailand but nothing can match his famous World Championship win in 1997 where he beat champion Stephen Hendry to take the game’s biggest prize.
